Byeongsan Seowon, South Korea
Photographs from 2017
This essay is a series of photographs of the Neo-Confucian Academy Beyongsan Seowon, which was built in the 16th century in South Korea. A Neo-Confucian can be named Seowon when the school includes an education as well as a sacred space. The observation of nature is very relevant for education; therefore nature is always present and framed by the architecture.
The photographic essay emphasizes on the forces between three elements: education / sacred / nature, which are always in dialogue.
